At about 2:30 a.m. on July 20, 2024, Xinhua Village, Malie Township, Hanyuan County, Ya'an City, suffered a flash flood disaster due to heavy rain, and communications, roads, and bridges were interrupted. After preliminary investigation, more than 30 people were missing and more than 40 houses were damaged.
After the disaster, the Emergency Management Department immediately launched a secondary emergency response, and multiple rescue forces rushed to the scene. After receiving the rescue order, Xiao Yuanying, the head nurse of Ya'an Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, and her colleague Zhang Liangjie set off from Ya'an City by ambulance. When they were about 2 kilometers away from the disaster site, they found that the injured were on the mountain opposite the river, but the roads and bridges had been washed away, and a turbulent river five or six meters wide blocked their steps. At this moment, an excavator in the river stretched out the bucket, and Xiao Yuanying and Zhang Liangjie quickly squatted in the bucket. With a roar, the excavator transported them into the air. Under the circumstances at the time, there were constant rescue personnel coming in and out, all relying on this excavator to cross the river, and this excavator became the only rescue "life channel". It is understood that this excavator is a Doosan DX300.
