The golden autumn season means that the cold winter is about to come, and the use of excavators in winter faces many challenges. Today, the editor will share with you some winter excavator usage guidelines to ensure that it can operate normally in the cold season and not delay the progress of the project.

First of all, before starting in winter, be sure to conduct a comprehensive inspection and maintenance of the excavator. This includes checking the engine coolant to ensure that it has sufficient antifreeze performance and replacing it in time if necessary. At the same time, check whether the viscosity of the engine oil is suitable for winter use, and replace it with an oil with better low-temperature performance if necessary. In addition, check the battery power and performance, because low temperature will reduce the battery capacity. Consider using a battery with a low-temperature start function, or add insulation materials around the battery. In addition, the hydraulic system oil also needs to be checked to ensure that it has good fluidity at low temperatures. If the oil viscosity is too high, consider replacing it with a low-viscosity oil suitable for winter use.

For us second-hand dealers, when acquiring second-hand excavators, we will pay special attention to the condition of these parts. We will carefully check the engine coolant, engine oil, battery and hydraulic system fluid to ensure that the excavator can start and run normally in winter. If we find any problematic parts, we will repair or replace them in time to ensure the quality of the second-hand excavator.

Secondly, when starting the excavator, it should be preheated first. You can use a preheater, or let the engine idle for a while to gradually increase the temperature of the engine. The preheating time is generally 5-10 minutes, and the specific time depends on the temperature and equipment conditions. During the startup process, pay close attention to the indicator lights and instrument readings on the dashboard. If you find any abnormalities, such as the engine fault light on, low oil pressure, etc., you should stop the start immediately and check. After starting, do not immediately perform high-load operations. Let the engine run at low speed for a while to gradually heat up the engine and hydraulic system. Before the engine temperature reaches the normal operating temperature, try to avoid heavy-load operations such as excavation and walking.

Third, during the operation, pay attention to keeping the working environment of the excavator clean and tidy, and clean up the snow and ice at the work site in time to avoid affecting the walking and operation of the excavator. Due to the low temperature in winter, the metal parts of the excavator tend to become fragile, so be more careful when operating and avoid violent impact and collision to avoid damage to the equipment. At the same time, pay attention to the working condition of the hydraulic system. At low temperatures, the response speed of the hydraulic system may slow down, so adjust the operation rhythm appropriately to avoid hydraulic system failure due to too fast operation. If the excavator needs to be parked for a long time outdoors in the cold, it should be parked in a flat and dry place, and the bucket should be lowered to the ground to reduce the pressure on the hydraulic system. At the same time, the excavator can be covered with canvas or plastic cloth to prevent snow and frost from damaging the equipment.

Finally, after the winter shutdown, the excavator should be cleaned and maintained in time. Remove dirt, ice and snow and other debris from the fuselage and working device to avoid corrosion to the equipment. Drain the engine coolant and hydraulic system oil and replace them with new oil suitable for winter use. At the same time, check whether the seals of the engine and hydraulic system are intact. If damaged, they should be replaced in time. Remove the battery from the excavator, store it in a warm, dry place, and charge it regularly to ensure the performance of the battery.

In short, using an excavator in winter requires special attention to care and maintenance. Our second-hand dealers will do their best to ensure the performance and quality of the second-hand excavators we sell in winter. I hope these precautions can help you and allow your excavator to operate safely and efficiently in winter.
