On rainy days, the maintenance of excavators is extremely critical. It not only affects the service life of the equipment, but also directly affects its performance in bad weather.

For parking locations, be sure to choose a place with high terrain, dry and solid. Never park the excavator in a low-lying area, riverside or area prone to water accumulation to prevent rain from soaking and damaging the equipment. If conditions permit, it is best to park in a covered garage or carport, which can effectively reduce the direct erosion of rainwater on it. For excavators purchased from second-hand dealers, since their previous use and storage environment are unclear, it is necessary to carefully select the parking location.

After the rain stops, cleaning should be carried out immediately. Clean the exterior of the excavator. Rainwater often carries impurities such as mud, dust, etc. If it is not cleaned in time, it will damage the paint surface and cause rust and corrosion. Use a high-pressure water gun and special cleaning agent to carefully clean the fuselage, crawler, bucket and other parts. At the same time, clean the cab, wipe the dashboard, seat, joystick, etc., and keep the interior clean and dry. Check the sealing of doors and windows, and repair them in time if damaged to prevent rainwater from seeping in. Second-hand dealers may clean and organize the excavator when selling it, but they still need to clean it carefully after use to keep the equipment in good condition.

The inspection of the electrical system cannot be ignored. Check the wires and plugs. Rainy days can easily cause short circuits and poor contact of the plugs. Check whether the wires are damaged, broken or aged, and whether the plugs are loose or rusted. If there are any problems, replace or repair them in time. Ensure that the lamps are working properly. If they are wet or damaged by rain, they should be cleaned or replaced in time to ensure clear vision during rainy days. Also check the battery power and connection. If they are soaked in rain, they need to be dried in time and checked for damage. Second-hand dealers may have inspected and maintained the electrical system, but they still need to pay close attention to its operation during use.

The inspection of the hydraulic system is crucial. Check the hydraulic oil. The air humidity is high on rainy days, which can easily mix the hydraulic oil with water, affecting the normal operation of the system. Check the oil level and quality. If there is water or impurities, replace it in time. Check whether the hydraulic pipes and joints are damaged, leaking, and whether the joints are loose. If there are any problems, repair or replace them in time to prevent leakage from causing safety accidents. The hydraulic system of excavators purchased from second-hand dealers may have uncertainties. In the early stage of use, more frequent inspections are required to ensure stable operation.

Engine inspections should also be done carefully. Check the air filter. The air is humid on rainy days, and dust and impurities are easily sucked into the engine, so check its cleanliness. If it is wet or blocked by rain, replace it in time to ensure normal air intake. Check the engine coolant level and quality. If it is mixed with water, replace it in time to prevent the engine from overheating. Check the engine oil level and quality. If there is water or impurities, it should also be replaced in time. At the same time, pay attention to the sound and operating status of the engine when it is started on rainy days, and repair it in time if it is abnormal. Second-hand dealers may have maintained the engine, but you still need to pay close attention to the performance during use.

The tracks and chassis also need to be carefully inspected. Check the tension of the tracks and adjust them in time if they are loose. Check whether the track shoes are damaged or broken, and replace them in time if there are problems. Check whether the chassis components are loose, damaged or rusted, especially the chassis seals and lubricants. Make sure they are in good condition to prevent damage caused by rain infiltration. For second-hand excavators, the tracks and chassis may have been worn to a certain extent, so they should be carefully checked to ensure safety and reliability.

Finally, do a good job of rust prevention. After the rain stops, apply rust inhibitors or lubricants to metal parts to prevent rust and corrosion. For excavators exposed to the rain for a long time, you can consider anti-rust treatments such as painting or galvanizing to extend the service life. Second-hand dealers may have done rust prevention, but they still need to be maintained according to actual conditions during use. In short, whether it is a new excavator or an excavator purchased from a second-hand dealer on rainy days, it is necessary to do a good job of maintenance to ensure that the equipment maintains good performance and reliability in bad weather, providing strong protection for engineering construction.
